Why Schools Need Preventive Counseling Approaches: from A Parent’s Perspective

Why Schools Need Preventive Counseling Approaches: from A Parent’s Perspective

In a family, children are the ones most being taken care of and the very reason why parents work so hard to provide for their children’s needs and education so that they can send them to the best schools around. Each parent does their best according to their capabilities and responsibilities.

School years are the most important period in a person’s life. We learn and develop many things in schools, such as building relationships with peers, overcoming problems, improving self-confidence, respecting self and others, developing social and emotional skills, honing abilities, and more. Therefore, parents’ expectations from schools are to provide the educational needs of their children and to help them get through their weaknesses in and out of the school.

One way to do this is through Positive Psychology. Schools will report and inform parents on how well their children do in school and will give feedback regarding their personal growth. Also, there are some assessment tools available, like a “student behavior assessment tool” that the school can utilize to achieve this expectation and goal.
